Words...
Now the topic now i'm going to talk about are about nasty words. Come on, what else can i talk about? nice words? And no, i'm not teaching u all dirty words, i'm not like u guys... anyways, have u ever noticed how people are just so sensitive over words? like that one word would just kill him and stuff? I'll give an example: N_gger. I'll leave the space to you but its a rude term to address an African American, since i also cannot use the word Blac_ to describe him.
To get things straight, i've been called many names, brown, yellow, chink (i don noe why i'm called that) and other assorted names that i will not say due to my policy of jeremism. Look, i don find any of this insulting to be true, maybe abit but not something i'll go murder someone over or sue a person. I do know that words are a very powerful tool, it can ease and prevent a war or create the outbreak. In fact, one of the most debated and most widely read book in the world (not harry wadsisname) the Bible says that the tougue is the hardest to train or something along that lines. Sometimes we can be too carried away with our words, we say stupid stuff like:
Hi, ur fat man!
Hi, did u just gain 10 pounds from the last time i met u?
Did ur face go through a blender or something? Good improvement!
U smell, take a bath bitch!
Even though many of this things are true but as being civilised people, we should speak ina less offensive way right? just re-phrasing it will do... (compare to the above respectively)
Hi, man u sure are going to last the winter!
Looks like someone is enjoying life!
U look better today, is it that shirt?
hey lets meet up later in about 30 mins time? meanwhile lets go back home and freshen up.
But to get back to the point. I don see the big point on the word: N_gger or call someone Blac_. Now its not that i use those terms to address people cause i don. I do know its rude and offensive, but i really don see the whole big point being so uptight about it. Look, its life, deal with it. Its a very touchy subject as African Americans were brough over as slaves but well heck, we chinese are not better off o.k? At least for me, i'll actually find it amusing if someone called me "hey yellow/brown kid". But lets look at this analytically, African Americans use the "N" word in many of the songs, if its so offensive then why do they even use it in their songs, to address their own "homies" etc? U know why? its no big deal isn't it? Really to me, if its so offensive, look at the Israelites / Jews. Do u think they find the holocaust funny? They talk about it grimly. I doubt they have songs about it and i really really see their pain when i visited Israel last year. Its not a good topic to start off with by the way if you are entertaining a Jew. As said again, I'm not being racist here or anything but i'm pointing out the difference between words that are suppose to be really painful. (i'm still not calling an African American a N_gger)
If only this world is more open and less stupidly obsessed with finding ways to pity themselves that they are inferior and the whole world are against them and calling them a term. Everyone has a term, even white people, i call them ang moh! If its really offensive, don use them in songs and ways to address ur friends cause its "cool".
Btw just a side note: can someone explain to me why indians find it offensive when people say N_gger or Blac_? Cause this refers to African American and not Indians.

'The Asian lady angrily replied, 'Fluc you white people, too!'

Balance - The central dogma of human life
-Abstract thinking ahead-
As many should have heard or at least seen of the yin-yang drawing from the chinese religion (taoism), its really about balance. Even good old zen (japanese) and feng shui has stuff about balance. In life without knowing, we will always revolve around equilibriums and face problems that would balance out life in general. There is a time for everything and a season for all activities. In life, regardless of how much we push, we will still yield to the flow of the world. As much as we fight the current, we will still be swept away by it. In life again, no matter how seemingly insignificant the actions we do, it is what creates the flow of man-kind. No matter how much we wish to control the flow of the world, in time it will be nothing but chasing of the wind.
In life, there is always balance, as if its to highlight and remind us the otherside of life. For if there is no darkness, how will we know there is light? If there is no sickness, how will we know what is good health? If there is no death, how will we know what is living? The anguish of man is only doubled because we know what is joy.
Indeed... There is a time for everything, a season for all activities under the sun. Life is a balance of everything, for if there is man, there is woman. If you hear thunder there was lightning, if there is a chicken, there is an egg and it goes the other way around as well.
Various seasons or time in life: There is...
A time of death, a time of birth.
A time of war, a time of peace
A time of anguish, a time of bliss
A time of pain, a time of pleasure
A time of old age, a time of youth
A time to cry, a time to laugh
A time of silence, a time of noise
A time of hate, a time of love
A time of weeping, a time of laughing
A time to be sick, a time to be healed.
A time to chase, a time to give up
A time to eat, a time to fast
For in life, there is a balance we cannot see through ourselves but through observing the cycles of life. Balance is the key to understand philosophy and the ways of living our lives. Some find chaos in peace whereas some find peace in chaos. For all of mankind, there is never one right answer, for the answers are in the perspectives of the individual's mind. How many seek to find the meaning of life but end up losing their life. For as its expected, where there is life, there is death and thus the balance of life restarts the cycle again...
There is death.... Now theres life.

Beloved
To my late sister i wrote a song last month, which is the first month anniversary. With whatever music capacity i had, i wrote the song named: Beloved. Below are the lyrics though the chords are not included.
As the seasons pass,
Under the clear blue sky,
Just as it has been before,
That same wind blows by again
(Verse B)
Moving through the green grass,
Smiling serenely everywhere,
Flowers flowing pass the princess,
In that twilight of the eye
(Bridge)
Once again the pain has come again,
But you stood right against it,
Moving against the strong current,
Was what touched the hundreds
(Chorus A)
Dearest Beloved
So what now? Now where have you gone?
Once again you have gone right beyond my reach
And again I'll have you waiting for me
You knew it yourself, no matter where you went
Your're on your own again and i'm so sorry
You were the inspiration of my life
Ah~ just like before
From the start you were everyone's beloved
(Bridge 2)
The times you fell down again
You always stood up again
Not shedding a single tear
For the sake of those you love
(Chorus B)
Dearest beloved
Have you escaped all that haunts you?
With love you always stood so strong
Just like you have done to the end
Where have you gone?
You are wanted by everyone
Come back if you can, you are so wanted
Let us see you just that one last time
Ah~ just like before
From the start you were everyone's beloved
Ah~just like now
You are still everyone's beloved
To all whom know and met my sister. I thank you for shaping her life, bringing joy and colour into her. For when i was young, the one that influenced me the most was my sister and still do even in her passing. I really can't thank enough those who were by her side at the last moments praying and from the bottom of my heart wished that i had that chance to be there myself. To various friends that helped me out alot during this period (Kai Jin, Tanny, Nicholas, abby, Steven, Jack and Amos especially) and still do, i give you my thanks. To my sister's friends whom i see great grief, distress and effort (in helping out etc) i'm really touched (Rui ying, Edmund, Si Ying, Ler Shan, Alvin, my sister's church cell group members and of course Jon. And again this only shows what i have seen and not mean who grieves more or less etc etc). Oh yes, to her friends whom she met in her stay in the hospital, Zinny etc. I know i'm bitching alot here, but i also thank my relatives for being there then and even now.
I do not wish to be my sister, but i do want to show with my life how she lived and how she influenced those around her....
Just like now,
You are still my beloved...

Communism! It lives!
Actually communism personally is an ideal way to rule a country. Its a utopia. If you were to think of it, its really system of brotherhood and i really like the concept. Basically whether your a teacher, a garbage man, a farmer or whatever, you all get the same treatment, same food etc. Its the world's most fair and understand system where everyone is the same. Regardless of who and what you are. This may be the solution to all those spoilt Americans whom are always complaining about some stupid sexist or racist or whatever-ist comment. It never ends and this communism may actually be the answer that problem. Being a man of science (studying Bach of Food Science!!!), i have come to learn what happens or is to be predicted in theory does not happen all the time in the practical. If fact it rarely happens. In thoery, everything goes according to the book, there are no variations no other factors involved and its based on calculations of perfect situations. Thus its really nothing but the talk of utopia. In first year, i had to take the damed Chemstry and now microbiology etc and i almost 100% of the time come in contact of non-perfect results (in my case, nearly perfect results most of the time, just missed by an inch). Now why do i not get a "perfect" result, its obvious! Due to the many other factors. Contamination, wrong temperature, too long or short of incubation time etc etc. It all boils down to mistakes or rather imperfection.
Humans by nature are greedy, or so you have heard or read from many sources. I do not disagree with that but i personally do not think by nature we are really greedy. But anyways, the reason why communism does not work is similar to what i have said earlier. Its due to the people involved in it, the people who manage it. No one is perfect thus its right to say we are all imperfect. Even with a perfect running system, all it takes is one stupid person to make a big boo boo (mistake) and it destroys utopia. For the people who like examples, look at a computer, its running fine and stuff but throw in a virus and it stuffs up the computer. Same principle. Surely society and individuals will be unable to run a perfect system correctly, everyone will want to benefit themselves (greed), work less gain more (lazyness) so on and so forth. Even if it reaches a someone who is somewhat perfect in terms that he/she is not bias to any group, has no greed and no ulterior motives, other factors some into play that causes communism to seem inefficient. As mentioned earlier, everyone is treated fairly and the same (or so i believe in theory) under communism, but if you were to think like this. A person of high authority such as a president meeting other foreign people of authority has to be dressed properly etc etc. It builds a different class due to his status as a man of power. This will no doubt cause a rift in society and a pyramid found in democratic countries where the rich is above the poor. This is the very reason why communism, a system where justice and true equality reigns is unable to function as intended. Its due to the imperfection in man, the desires and expectations of man that causes a perfect system to be down-trodden and looked down upon.
However as a proof that communism lives and can actually work though in contrary to what many believe (though more subtlely), its a family. In a family, the father and mother does their respective duties (besides being a father and mother) and brings in the bacon or looks after the house etc. Children go to school and perhaps help out in chores. Each of them do different duties and each of them fulfill their role in the family. But at the end of the day, they all sit down and have the same dinner together (in most normal families). They do not portion out meat for the dad cause he brings in money and vegetables for the children cause they just study and do not bring income to the family. At the table despite the father and mother being of higher authorities it still boils down to everyone being treated equally. Communism is in a twisted way found in a family.
I do admit, communism due to the large factors of man-kind involved cannot work in a country, a large city but i'm quite sure it should work in a village where everyone cares for one another. Gengis Khan once said, its not the strength of the wall that makes it strong but the people who minds it (refering to the great wall of China). If only man can just cast away bias-ness and imperfection then perhaps we can use in theory a perfect system to build a better tomorrow.

The Oak tree and the Willow tree
My sister has always been the willow tree and I the oak tree. Both are able to grasp true strength in different ways. The ways she lived, thinked and dealt with problems are different from the way I would.
I live by a code of honour, theories and philosophies, my sister just lives life.
When in pain and to ensure others, my sister gathers people to ensure them, I move away from them
She looked life as something to enjoy and to live to the fullest, I live life as a lesson. Taking events as a lesson.
She accepted and endured pain, I abhor and move away from it.
She touched the hundreds and I was touched by the hundreds
In life, there is no such thing as a single way for pure strength, a single way to obtain true strength. Its only the mind and the perspective that limits it. My sister was strong and impacted many people in her short duration of life. I know that if I could only be given the chance to just share and take her pain, I would.
My sister would be remembered as an impacter of lives, an encourager and a strong girl. I will miss her eternally.

What Are You?
I was just bathing and this thought came to my mind. What are you? To make one thing clear, i read books in the toilet etc, why sit on the "throne" and do nothing but stare at the wall? So naturally if you are in a bath and if take long baths like me that are <15mins>
So this random thought that floated across started to take form and develop into an essence in the realm of the infinite planar space commonly known to me as the "Mind".
This question "What are you?" as you should have realised is not specific. What are you? Could it be referring to your country? Nationality? Religion? Studies? Its a really broad question but it really reveals what you hold yourself close to. What you will run to once your in trouble.
Just a side note to those who are reading this blog and question the point Nationality and Country. Are there any difference besides the spelling? Well my dear simpletons, I'm a Chinese (Nationality) and a Singaporean (Country). I've noted many people in Australia (Ang Mohs) that get very frustrated when I tell them I am a Chinese and a Singaporean. They just can't seem to grasp upon the truth that i'm both, cause only they can be Caucasian and Australian. Anyways, back to point...
If you were to imagine, someone randomly walking up to you on the streets and asking you "What are you?". Lets ignore the highest possible action of walking away and thinking that person is crazy but stop and think, What are you? I remember this saying that i hear relatively often, "Where your treasure is, your heart is".
Some people will say their race & culture (e.g. Chinese, Malay, Indian & Jeremian), some their country (e.g. Singaporean, Malaysian & Thailand), others their religion (E.g. Christian, Buddhist etc) and even their Family names (E.g. Lim, Hilton, Jeremian). I think you get the hang of what I'm talking about. Now as water was trickling down my body (which non of you will want to read on if i continue to write on in detail so i'll stop), I silently thought, What am I? Some people think that Family names are so ancient. That's not true actually, I'll give an example soon. Its true that many people do not answer straight away "I'm a (e.g.) Lim" which sounds so ancient China if you ask me personally. But if you at this example, Paris Hilton, yes yes, you have heard of her. Little Paris often uses her Family name, "Do u know who i am? I'm a Hilton" etc etc.
What are you? This simple question really reveals what you hold dear, often this "thing/object/name etc" you hold dear is something of authority and power. Some people say "I'm a Christian", this shows their faith and their trust in God. "I'm a Singaporean", shows that you place where u come from as a place of importance. "I'm a Chinese", shows your heritage and the culture your proud of, "I'm a Lim" shows your pride in your family name and the family you belong to. "I'm am a Jeremy" shows your an idiot so do not say your name when people ask you "What are you?".
What do you hold dear to you? What do you think u belong to? This question forces you to make a choice immediately to say the first thing that's important to you, the first place u will take shelter or claim belonging to when your in danger and as well as in peace. So my friends, its a really a simple question. "What are you?"

iGM
Did you know that most of the food we eat now is actually Genetically Modified? Yes, they are not myths and legends where scientist in white robes play around in test-tubes and stuff, its true! The corn you ate last night, the pork that you pounced on and even the milk that you drank last week when you thought no one was around. Cows, Pigs, Fishy~ Vege~ THEY ARE ALL GMed!
Now, Gm brings about good and bad stuff but lets for now focus on the good stuff. The world is currently growing in a tremendous rate, meaning there is a lack of food for everyone. It is not as easy to say "make more farms" as firstly not everyone wants to be a farmer and of course if the incentive is right they will be a good number that will become one. Interestingly, we tend to forget that if there is a super big increase in human population, that means we need the land to build houses to stay as well and there is a limit to wear we can grow or rear animals (there is only 3% fresh water in the world which i believe most are ice bergs) but anyways we have to the water problem as well as lack of areas (deserts in the world, human areas etc). Gm allows an increase in food supply cause more food can be grown from the same plant with bigger, better and more nutritional foods. Yes this also includes animals. Yes there have been deformities in animals etc, many questionable problems that society points at them but seriously, Gm solves many of the modern day problems. So the question is, is it good to have Gm?
Now personally, i do not prefer the path for Gm. Who are we to "play God" and try creating new species from out of random animals. Inserting genes, e.g. Bacteria genes into sunflowers (shocks you isn't it?) to obtain oil that i supposed to come from fish (Thus fish oil or more commonly know cod-liver oil). Heard of
Liger"? Its a cross of a LIon and a tiGER, go google it, u will find a picture of this beast. Now, you may say about how about not putting tigers and lions together but just perhaps tomatoes with tomatoes. Different varieties. If they were doing it naturally its fine to me but its the questionable fact of what they do in the labs. Manipulating genes etc. I do admit to the fact that it solves many of the world's problems esp. Food Security (lack of food), the rising interest in Bio-fuels etc. But what is wrong is wrong no matter whether it is done for good or not.
Now lets look at an example:
I believe many of you who are reading this blog is acquainted to the word "stealing". Either you have been the person who did it, the victim, one of ur friend's stuff has been stolen before, you read it before in a book or you do not know what it is (in which case if u are above 12 years old i'll call you sad). I think most of you who do know this word do know it is a crime to steal, in order words its an offence. Its not a nice thing to do.
Steal is defined as: Take dishonestly or embezzle.
Doesn't sound too nice does it? You see, i think we all know stealing is not a good thing. How about the case of a little child stealing the piece of bread for his family who is poor, father is dead and their mother is bed-ridden. Now we go sentimental and forgive him for he has to find a way to feed his family right? To take care of his family etc, we turn against the grumpy, not understanding owner who chases after the little kid.
A classic example is Robin Hood. I hope all of you have heard of this kid (actually guy). He robs the rich to give the poor. Its a bed-time story or i'll actually classify it as a fairy-tale. What he did was good, he gave to the poor but no matter, he still did a crime. He stole.
Its not what you do with the money that makes it right or wrong, its the action that brought you that money. See, lets look at a lighter case of stealing. Supposedly a guy only has enough money to make ends meet and recently, his friend met into an accident and is bed-ridden in the hospital. Now, this poor chap who find it hard to make ends meet has to help out in the hospital bills. He decides to steal to help his friend just that bit. Not that bad eh? How about i notch it up again, a family is doing fine. Children in school, eldest in university etc, nice home, moderate car etc. But the father wants a better life for them so he decides to steal. Now not that forgiving right? How about the infamous NKF case that happened in Singapore where the CEO/President of NKF (National kidney foundation) with his crew (The board of directors etc) stole millions from the company? These are rich people but they are greedy. I don think many Singaporeans actually sympatised with them much. When is the line drawn where one is "legalised" to steal?
You see, what one does with the food, money, i-pod or wadever does not justify the action. It only shows the heart or the reason behind it. It may have been done for the better, for good purposes but it is still wrong. Now to get back to the point i was making before it starts to really side-track, Gm is done for the better of mankind where all scientist are geniunely concerned over the future of man-kind, fame and money. It may be done for the better of mankind but still no matter, if the action is wrong no matter what the heart means to do, its still wrong...
Now, don start boo-ing me now... everyone is entitled to their own beliefs

iArticle
In case of those who do not know, there is a food crisis or i would say a food shortage/food production in the world now. One of the effects are the sharp increase in ingredients such as flour resulting in many grumpy people like me during Chinese New Year due to the ridiculous prices for cakes, ba gua and other stuff. Hong Baos however stayed the same.
According to the article, China grew freaking 9.5kg tomatoes, 22.5cm chillies, 95kg pumpkins and so forth! All of this was done simply by sending the seeds into space for 2 weeks. I find it incredible if u ask me, there are even 60cm cucumbers and 6.3kg eggplants!
Strangely, western scientist are sceptical, NASA (a famous space company) said benefits do not weigh out the cost and something or perhaps some company called "Dupont" ruled out sending seeds into space. Now if you ask me, the western world has something against China or i would rather say Asians. They are just jealous that some other people (whom many of them think are inferior due to some racist theory called social darwinism) whom are not "Whites" perhaps found the answer that they have been searching for all this time. Its a breakthrough if you ask me, if they are so sceptical, why not send some scientist down and investigate rather than to sit on their big fat asses proclaiming that it is impossible.
I remembered reading in a book how Western scientist proclaimed some plant species that are supposedly extinct since the Jurassic period are actually found in Africa now. There is even a fish which i forgot the name found in the Indian ocean that is again supposed to be extinct but again proved to alive and existing. Its not like the western scientist have all the answers to questions and its also not like they have all the rights and privileges to answer them only. Its just that some "dumb" asians got the answers first thus resulting them sulking that we do not have the answers.
Well NASA says benefits does not justify the cost, we can send in bulk u idoits! We are talking about people's lives here, is money more important than lives? Also, the cost for the fruits and vegetables may be more expensive since it may have to cover the cost of sending it up to space *cough cough government do something* but just one e.g. tomato pretty much can feed a family of perhaps 5 for two to three days if you ask me. That is saving money. Children who hate vegetables are going to have a wild time of course which makes me think perhaps the fact that they are so large and take so long to consume (meaning that they have to be eaten in many meals so not to waste) could be the reason why the western scientist are not happy. Maybe they don like veggies and are irritated the chinese did not happen to send a cow to space.
Whatever is the outcome, whether it is another dodgey hoax story from China or not, we as "civilised people" should try to keep our minds open for ways to improve not only our living standards but also the 3rd world countries standards which huge populations suffer from starvations. Boo Hoo Hoo to "western scientist" if it turns are true and will obviously result in them are copying us chinese and claiming originality as well as superiority.

iKate
I showed her a book i borrowed regarding the topic i'm writing about (eggs) and she went " yeah u can't use it as reference but u also can"
wtf?
So one thing lead to another after asking how to use this stupid search called "super search" which gives you e-articles/journals (from the internet) O_O??? . She asked me to go over to her room etc, so that was cool. Nicholas was following me too since he probably was trying to figure out wad was going on for referencing while Tanny (the Thai kid that follows me around) decided that he had something else to do so he ran along the path out skipping and clapping his hands while all of us 3 (Kate, nic and me) looked at him in bewilderment.
On the way to the office, i was still asking her various questions regarding the paper as she said if i were to take things from the book, i would have to find the references that the people who wrote the book had got it from etc. So i just asked her regarding "finding the article that was used as reference part" as if i used an article and lets say it contained 3 reference that means i'll have to find the other 3 which may too have more references. She went "pretty much yup" (that was later changed when i reached her room) and continued saying "well maybe you have chosen the wrong course to take then" and proceeded in giggling. Now before that everything was cool, tanny skipping his way out of class, nic following us at the back humming a song, i asking important and essential questions...
Now hey, I'm an international student. That means compared to the many Australian citizens or PRs here, i pay a heck of alot more. which if i were to calculate, is about $100 per lecture, its not nice to have a lecturer who is late for lectures for more than 45 mins without giving a reason why she was late to say stuff like that. Well thats besides the point anyways, so she said that while putting her hands in her pocket and walking off (similar to a tom-boy's way) which is similar to the 1970s-1980s which is really cool for a second but since this is the 2008 i don really think its cute to act 1970s.
Upon climbing up to her room, she curtly told nic to run along and come back later as she only likes 1 to 1 "interviews" which i believe she should have done right in the beginning.
Well, i do admit that session was successful. I did learn how to use supersearch to a better extent and learn that woodbridge hospital has let someone go prematurely. Shes a nice girl actually, just i guess trying too hard and trying to be funny when its not funny.

iHypocrisy
Is it really true that all of us are guilty? In nature fishes and birds go together in a group/flock etc which results in safety in numbers. Generally they do not have an idea where they are going. We as humans do the same thing. I've been trying to live a life without hypocrisy and its not easy. One cannot compromise on this and that.
A very good example is something all of us should have heard or perhaps did. Maybe for example, you really like this particular food, so when your out with friends, you recommend it. Ever noticed how it goes something like "hey this stall erm not bad". What you are really trying to say is "Its really great". This results in giving yourself a way out if someone says "nah its not that good, i don like it" cause all you have to say is " yeah guess so, well i said its not bad".
Cant people just stand up for the truth sometimes? In this world where a person's face is everything, he/she does not want to stand out as a person of bad taste/weirdo but if u really like just say it.
Defined:
| 1. | a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess. |
| 2. | a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude. |
| 3. | an act or instance of hypocrisy |
If one has to guts to follow and do things they don like, why not just do things they like? For all you know you may find people who like it as well. A leader is not one who follows the crowd but one who leads and guides it.
well thats life to you
Go figure.

iEaster
As Easter has just passed, it has been a tradition for many European countries that a cute little bunny with a basket full of chocolate eggs will hopping around the world delivering nice little chocolate eggs to all over the world. Now isn’t that such a sweet sweet chocolate-dreamy like dream?
Not.
It’s pretty stupid and absurd if one thinks about it. I mean seriously, A BUNNY jumping all over the world? Delivering Chocolate eggs? Firstly, bunnies do not go to supermarkets therefore how the heck does “it” get the chocolate eggs, it does not produce eggs either let alone chocolate ones. Well, while thinking about it, I was thinking about his nearest “cousin” namely: Santa Claus who does almost the same thing except at a totally different time which most of us I assure you do fondly remember called Christmas time. Now, lets look in a scientific way about Santa… (got most from the net actually)
Firstly there has been no known species of reindeer that can fly. However, there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not completely rule out flying reindeer which only Santa, his wife (Mrs Santa) and his elves has seen. Next, there is an incredible estimation of 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. But since Santa doesn’t – apparently – handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children and other non-Christian religions since that makes you bad, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total – a mere 378 million (according to the Population Census Bureau). This gives us an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that’s 91.8 million homes across the world. Now, let’s just presume there is at least one good child to each home.
Now Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west, which seems logical. It’s not 24 hours since it is night at one place e.g. USA whereas its day in another e.g. Australia. This works out to an average of 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each ‘Christian’ household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat/drink whatever snacks or milk have been left, get back up the chimney, get into the sleigh, and move on to the next house. Now Santa sure going to turn thin by the end of the day, great fat-burning method seriously. (Now Santa is probably so fat just like other creatures in cold weather, I believe its called blubber in whales, to keep him warm in the cold cold North pole.)
Assuming that these 91,800,000 (Ninety one Million and Eight Hundred thousand) stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but which for purposes of our calculations we shall accept it making it so much easier), we are now talking about 0.76 miles per household, a total trip of 75,500,000 (Seventy five Million and five Hundred thousand) miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours such has shitting, bathing and other assorted stuff. I would really hate to receive something from him on second thought, just the smell would kill me. This means that Santa’s sled is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times faster than the speed of sound which is 330m/sec. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a lousy 27.4 miles per second. A conventional/normal reindeer can run at tops, 15 miles per hour. Wonderful flying reindeers. Amazing!
Next comes the weight, something most people may have forgotten already. The payload on the sleigh is another interesting element seriously. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized Lego set (2 pounds which is equivalent to 0.90718 kg thus roughly 1kg), the results in the sleigh carrying a whooping 321,300 tons, not inclusive of good old Santa, who has been invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional/normal reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds (136.07771 kg which I’ll round up to 150kg actually since 2 pounds is roughly 1 kg). Even granting the ability of ‘flying reindeer’ (see top) to pull perhaps ten times the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight or even nine flying reindeers (one of the we would know as Rudolph the red nose reindeer) . We need much much MUCH more. Actually, we need a total of 214,191 more, amounting to a total of 214,200 reindeer. Nice! This increases the payload – not counting the weight of the sleigh – to 353,420 tons. Again, for comparison, this is four times the weight of the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth.
This crazy amount of 353,000 tons of mass traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance, which will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth’s atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14,300,000,000,000,000,000 (14.3 quintillion) joules of energy (I had never gone past the zillion number: million, billion, trillion, zillion…). Per second. Each. Thus, in short, they will almost instantaneously burst into flames, exposing the reindeer behind them, who will repeat the process, and they will also create deafening sonic booms in their wake. This perhaps is the first fireworks in the western world! The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. An old jolly Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound (113.39809 kg about 125kg) Santa which seems ludicrously slim since his been depicted as a insanely overweight beer belly fat ass man would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds (1.957, 257.8804 kg or roughly more than 2 million kg) of force. I can’t imagine his fat cheeks flabbing from that force, hahaha!
Thus in conclusion, if Santa ever did deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he is obviously dead by now.
Please people who have read this, do not go screaming and whining to me that I have just ruined your dream and start saying I’ll get a lousy lump of coal in my stockings this year (like sif I even have one at all) for this. And no, I’ll not get a bag full of it either. To those who insist Santa still does exist and have prove by having disappeared snacks, well science can’t prove everything can it? This was not meant to convert people into my thinking btw, so pls don debate over it with me.
Soooooo, IF Santa can’t do it, how the heck does a lousy hopping bunny with no flying reindeers do the job of delivering chocolate eggs around the world?

iSociety
Now i'm not one of those animal lovers or part of the help to save the world planet but this is what i have been seeing and noticing.
Remember the point about we looking back in the past and saying we are technically more advance? Well for one thing, Chinese had this acupuncture thingy for many many years. Did u know that they are using it in America now? In the hospitals? Scientist and doctors do not understand how it works, nor do they know why it works, but they do know it works and thats all thats important.
Actually if u think about it, the most technologically advance country in the world America is really similar to an ancient country. Please do not come to me and debate over this issue cause no matter what, if ur adament on which side your on, u will always be on that side. Of course there wil be differences etc, just like how ancient Rome are different from the people in medieval times but no matter, they are similar.
Now, America, a very technologically advance city, like seriously they are. Surveys and reports are shown that many school kids are actually pretty clueless, like they don know stuff at all. Maths, History everything! They are weak in it. Then you go: wait a second, there is Harvard University, the best university in the world. i know smart/talented people that are americans. Similarly to Ancient countries which i'll use China, the nobility (or rather known as the aristocrat or ruling class) had the vast amounts of knowledge which many people in America do. Many Americans do have vast amounts of knowledge, knowing many details and many important scientific facts inclusive of arts, culture etc. But majority do not, just like how the peasents won't know shit, they do know some the basics and get mixed up over many other "important facts" thus the saying: a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Next the question, if America is similar to an ancient country, then where are all the aristocrats? easy, they are what is considered as brands. Looking back at ancient countries, there are rich people but more importantly, there are the nobles and not only are they rich most of the time, but they have a clan. We can see this from Japan, a very good example as many old/ancient clan surviving up to this day. Brands like Mac-donalds, Gucci, Nike are what a noble is in the current society. They do go "pok-kai" sometimes and thus fall out from society but looking back in history, this happens to many nobles and clans who have fallen out of the king's grace or did something really stupid thus causing the society to hate them making them disappear and becoming "one of us commoners".
Then come the most obvious question, where is the king? well for America, we have the good old president of America. Now most of u will go a wtf we elected him thing. Now thinking about it, many kings in Ancient societys have kings that people love and hate. Well George Bush is a classic example of one that many people that do not like, and perhaps Abraham Lincon (is that the right spelling?) has been a beloved icon for many Americans. Sometimes "kings" go out of place and thus falling out of grace of a large bulk of society and getting kicked out of the thrown and having another placed on it. Well the Bible has shown David taking over the throne of Saul, but the falling out of grace was with God not with man. (though its shown that many people in the population loved David more than Saul). Similarly, Presidents come and go, so do kings. Their desendants that take over like ancient times for modern society are really those people who are in the same party (the democratic, the republic, etc).
Thus i have established the common link of a king, nobles, normal people and distribution of knowledge between the an ancient country and America now. Please do not get me wrong that i'm saying America is an ancient country but saying they are really similar to them. Now really what gives us the right to laugh at "Cave mans" since music is starting to head into that direction of crazyly loud music, screaming and shouting found in hard rock music and heavy metal music. This shows that society is really the same, changing here and there but in the end it comes back to the square one. Thus, with whom i am, with what i know, its really important to know that there is nothing new under the sun and be humbled by it. Don't be proud and live each day happily.

iDepart
well life is not fair, what can i say?
So i'll be back in Melbourne and i'm going to miss Singapore seriously. I feel that this holiday of mine was really great, not that i did what i wanted to do but i filled it with meaningful objectives and activites.
i reached back in Singapore on the 23rd of November. Within roughly a week (2nd of Dec to 14th of Dec) i went to Israel. Christmas came really quickly with an enjoyable dinner with my family, my friends and my sister's friends. I with the help of Joel (who was in NS) planned the activities for the chalet retreat in Pasir Ris and it was really a great success. Then came the ushering of a New Year with my church friends, working in Touch Youth a wonderful organisation that reaches out and helps students that are re-doing (private candidates) O'lvls because they either did badly for it or got into trouble with the law and was kicked out of school. Jaclyn my secondary school friend helped for a short while (thanks) but resulted in me waiting for her at her bus stop for more than 30mins all the time (sigh) and thus paying an extra bus fare (double sigh) but regardless she was a help. Working there (free mind you since its helping out, my bus/train price killed me seriously) really taught me alot of valuable lessons that one cannot learn in a class room alone and i really thank God for this experience. It was tiring but it was worth it and was fun to a certain extent. I also helped out in a charity organisation (BMDP - Bone Marrow Donor Program) where i helped the organisation sell teddy bears and raise funds on some scottish event. The person in charge i have to admit with no diffculty lack accountability and fore-sight, its a success because of the people there (i slacked abit so not all the credit should go to me) really did a fantastic job. So i did tuition and later teaching (to cover the chemistry teacher who went overseas) and stopped 2 weeks before i left for Melbourne (which is tomorrow). Also there was Chinese New Year where i went up to Malaysia for 2 days and had lots of fun. Visiting of other relatives also happened.
So there we are, this is what i did throughout my stay in Singapore. Seriously busy, didn't get to visit the zoo, science centre, Jurong bird park, wild wild wet etc as i planned to do.
Time passes so fast,
Its like a silver arrow,
To the distant it flies,
The infinate space
Where have i reached?

iThank
sigh...
Actually i realised how cool it is to belong to a big family. Every Chinese New Year, i would travel back to Malaysia (Batu Pahat) and have reunion dinner etc with my mum's side of the family. It would always be so "noisy" etc. Taking care of my little cousins running around, talking to my uncles/aunties/cousins, playing Wii~ haha
One problem one may face with a big family is the remembering of names and birthdates but its really worth it. Now, understand me. I'm not trying to put down people from smaller familys which is so common this days, i also am of an average family size of 2. But if i were to get married and have children, i will surely want to have more than 3 children. 4 perhaps? Contrary to some people people, I actually like children (don take this words up and twist the meaning pls), the way they ask questions, the innocence and the way they simply love you for whom you are but not for what you can give them (you see this in many girls this days tch tch tch...)
Did anyone of you know about this saying? To get a Singaporean girl, one will need the "5 Cs".
Namely:
- Condominium
- Cash
- Credit Card
- Car
- C.... ( I forgot what it was )
Whatever the last one was, this does not and i repeat DOES NOT apply to all girls in Singapore. Its just that many Singaporean girls i have seen all have this trait and its really alarming personally. I'm sure there are girls like that in other countries such as China, Japan America etc. But this is something i heard from my uncle and friends about Singapore girls. Its ironic for this "5 Cs" - type of girls who claim that the "inside" is more important than the "outside" when they dump their Boyfriends just because they cannot splurge on demand or because they see another pretty-faced boy who drives a more expensive car and can pay for dinner. Its really sad what the world is becoming to. I do admit that the shape of the world is not only because of girls of course, its also due to and in fact a large portion is due to us guys. But i wonder, do girls have it as bad as us guys? Yes, we are physically stronger but anything else? Girls have the sympathy of the society (We are talking about countries that are not 3rd world where brawn is more important than brain), regardless of what happens i tend to see Girls siding with girls (nothing wrong with that) and guys siding with girls (the reason is obvious and i am guilty of that also). So seriously i ask again whether girls are the "weak" and "abused" of the society where they lack the power and sympathy of those around them. But this is how the world is, just like how the Earth revolves around the sun.
Below is my time in Encounter Camp (25th - 27th of Jan).My Church friends/Spiritual family (encounter camp). Featuring (from left to right): Richard, me, Yu Fan, Wei Shun, Amos (blue t-shirt), Jack, Murphy (in pink tee), Derrick, Gabriel and Joel. I've for many years thought its really "uncool" and boring to hang out with church friends, boring people with no life but its not the case. My holiday in Singapore will be a boring one without them and i really thank God for them. Most of my friends are either still studying (poly), NS (army) or working (bring back the bacon). Now i didn't start hanging out with them just because they are available but even during the holidays i hang out with them just as much as my other friends. They have been there when i really needed them (esp. Jack when i was in sec 3/4 and Amos my leader throughout my whole time with him).
I guess i have many things to thank God for... the people above in the pic are just one of them but it really makes a big part of my life. Really thankful for such good church friends of different backgrounds.

A Happy Chinese New Year to All~
Well anyways,
Wish all those reading this blog a Great Chinese New Year, all the best etc etc
I've always what was it to be in the parents shoes. Firstly Christmas (25th of Dec) then New Years day (1.1 of Jan) then an other festival called Chinese New Year. For us teenagers or kids (at least for me), this is perhaps my favourite period. One good thing after another, but for the parents? First the expensive gifts for Christmas (how about the decorations, travelling around etc?), then a dinner (perhaps at new year) and of course another wallet-killing festival. The Hong Bao la, the decorations again, the travelling again etc.
When I think about it, I really start to appreciate my parents after all this years. I find it really amazing how parents are willing to give up so much for their children, as the chinese saying goes: Mu Qing De Ai Shi Duo Mo Wei Da. For those who can't decipher my terrible chinese it means a Mum's love is so great. Though this does not give credit to Dads but i think that most of us will perhaps remember them. Though this chinese saying perhaps does not apply to some ang mohs i have read in the newspapers. Now, u have to understand i am not racist, i said Some, just in case anyone of you do not note it and want to send me to court. Now i'm ashamed to say as well besides to the more common topic i'm going to say, asians and other "races" also fall under this.
Not sure about anyone of you guys but i feel really sad/sick whenever i see a newspaper article talking about parents abandoning their kids, killing them and even having sexual assaults! I mean, My GOD! how sick are this people? Are their own problems bigger than the innocent child who have just newly entered the world without sin. They have not even done a single thing but cry out in desperation longing for one to hug them and give them comfort but instead recieve rejection and abuse. Now I'm not saying i'm holy or that i have not done anything "bad" before but i just can't understand why people would do that. They are just running from their responsibility. "Let the one without sin cast the first stone"
Abortion is a common thing found in societys, why do this problem happen? This is not a great topic to talk about when its a Chinese New Year but after having so much fun with my relatives and seeing the little children run around, i start thinking about the new generations and what they are doing. Abortion, commonly happening when a couple have unprotected sex, nothing wrong with that but they do not dare take up the responsibilty. Its an age old saying that goes like this: You reap what you sow. Now for what u have done, pls take up the responsibilty. Now for the Boy and Girl Teenager punks who want to act "wild", "crazy" and "open", when a pregnancy happens, everyone points fingers everywhere. Sigh, what a sad world we live in.
Anyways, i really believe in you reap what you sow. So no matter what, justice has long hands. They will reach out and grab you when u least expect you.
I really Bless the next generation and hope the joy that i have seen the past few days will be eternal. :)
Happy Chinese New Year to All~

Year of Sabbath
This year of Sabbath which means a year of slacking! (nah just joking)
But country to most one-minded people, sabbath means not being able to do stuff. Its just that the Jews are actually Singaporean in Heart, they are ultra kiasu. Come to think of it, the strain of kiasu-nism could have came to us then innocent immigrants from many different countries to make a better living in good old humble Singapore from the Israelites who came to train us (the army).
I'm sure many of us have heard about how kiasu the "Jews" are when it comes to Sabbath. After visiting Israel, i realised they Are kiasu to a large extent. The gyms are closed, not one Jew helps to take pics and even a stupid machine like the lift is switched off till evening.
But to their credit, they do cause they try to do their best. E.g. they shouldn't shave the side of their head with a razor or perhaps during an occasion. Some of them thus say, For God, whom i love, i shall not shave it ever. Now, this brings about the commonly misconception of Jews being stupidly straight and prudent, not understanding God's real intentions etc, but after hearing one of them explain to us (i went to Israel on the 4th - 22th of Dec), i realise they go to such extreme out of Love. Well Love can be kiasu i guess, being scared to lose.
Come to think of it, when there is a 10% discount in Orchard. All shopoholics come down ranging from teenagers, aunties (ah-so) and old grandmas with umbrellas! They shop not because they really need the item. If there wasn't a sale, would they have gotten that Guchi/Nike/wadeva shoe? Or that really really required diamond ring? No, its because of the incentive to buy something at a discount. Man but i admit, we Singaporeans are really really addicted to it. If I ever open a store, i should name it "50 Percent Off!", its just a name but it'll bring tons of people flocking over just to claim that they saved money by buying it now instead of later (when they could have just saved the whole lot by not buying at all).
I can't wait for a Singaporean comedian to start the We Singaporean jokes. Remember the seemingly rude "Yo Mama jokes?", Yo Mama is sooo fat that when she... (i'm not insulting anyone pls), we could have a We Singaporeans are so kiasu that when we...
But, if anyone one of u ever make this up and the police catches u after the government says your defaming the country don refer them to me. I'm just typing wad i feel is interesting.
Well anyone who is interested in reading on. I'm currently helping out in Touch Youth, where i help out kids (17-20 year olds actually) who have either created trouble to be kicked out of school or did badly in O'lvls/N'lvls and want a second chance. So I, Jeremy Lim, am coaching them in English, Maths, Chem and Bio. Its really boring sometimes as no one really ask questions but i've learnt to give them questions etc. They call me Mr. Lim (but now adays most of them just refer me as "Cher"). Mr Lim sounds real nice!
Mr. Lim, can I go to the Toilet?
Mr. Lim, How to do this questions?
Mr. Lim, How come u look so handsome? (no one ask yet unfortunately).
Gives me a older feeling, like i'm lost to my generation, but its cool. Of course all teachers have an assistant so i have Jaclyn (co-helper actually) but lets keep it as assistant. Shes been a great help but meeting her makes me realise how time really really really drags on. (she tends to be abit late to meet peopl, akin to my friend Victor though not as bad usually) Despite my terrible grades in Chemistry in Uni (i passed though), i'm going to teach them Chem next week! Just for laughs, i might come dressed up in a lab coat and dye my hair white to give me a crazy scientist look. Though it might bring about the "crazy part" on the students, the scientist part will most sadly not even be printed in their minds.
Well, tomorrow brings a new day where i go in and be the next GTO. Just an end warning to those who have not watched Alien vs Predator 2, DON WATCH IT. ITS SICK! ITS DISGUSTING! AND ITS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY!

Rainy Night
Its a rainy night, one that forces one to turn up the volume of the music and relax letting your mind drift around. Have u ever heard of Aristotle's theory (one of them). Anyways, for those who have not heard this guy, his really an ancient man from ancient Greece. A student of the great Pluto. To get to the point, this Greek philosopher came up with this theory/understanding/point. Its his famous (something) theory, *my mind kindda can't remember the name of the theory*, that (a) can be (b) but (b) is not (a).
Pretty confusing huh?
o.k, to make this easy. i'll an example.
Jeremy is Smart but Smart is not Jeremy
Another one:
God is Love, but Love is not God
there, his theory. isn't it fun?
Just like how your heart stops for a millisecond when u sneeze, I wonder what will happen to my friends entering NS (national service). With Ma Cheng off in good old China, Vic entering NS, David also entering NS, school starting (started actually) for everyone etc, what can i do? But as a good friend like all those who have always been there for friends. I wished them b4 they entered NS.
R.I.P
REST IN PEACE...
Isn't it great to have a friend like me? While most of u lazy arses waste your time away in your holiday, yours truly is making a difference in the society. I've been killing time (thanks to schools and Ns taking away most of my friends) by doing Charity, helping out people here and there, learning new tricks etc. I always thought, 24hours a day isn't enough for me, seriously. i spend around 7-10 hours sleeping, 1 hours getting up and doing neccesary stuff like brushing of teeth, another few hours on the internet (like now). I really wonder do i really have time for anything else? Sleeping late, getting up late, life kindda sucks but its a slacker's paradise (thus mine)
Thus in conclusion, if there is anyone free on friday pls do tell me. I wanna go to Wild Wild Wet (WWW) which is in Singapore but its kindda sad to go alone so please do tell me if u can go...>.<
